I spent nine months of my spare time (animation is a new hobby that the 'ol day job interferes with) animating an inspiration that has bubbled in my mind ever since hearing the classic Blue Oyster Cult song "Godzilla" and coming across the creative 3D models of various artists that played into my vision.  The animation (my first major attempt) was done in Poser 5 (made by Curious Labs) and edited in Adobe Premiere with special effects produced from the Particle Illusion program by Wondertouch.   Although I originally planned to do much more in the way of adding greater detail to the animation, a hard drive crash and subsequent loss of crucial data precluded this.

However, I am pleased with the outcome, and hope people find as much pleasure in viewing the animation as I experienced in making it.  It was originally meant for my grandchildren, but I wanted others to get to see it too, and Richard Travis was kind enough to work hard at processing the animation for posting on this website so that my craziness can be shared with others.  Thank you, Richard.

I hope these versions of the animation (made from already compressed material) show some of the details, such as the animated screens in the aircraft, lights on the police car, exhaust from the aircraft engines, etc.

The "bonus clip" at the end of the animation is a tribute to professional animator Marv Newland's 1969 classic short animation feature titled "Bambi Meets Godzilla".  It's an animation I did a few years ago (my very first attempt at animating) as I was sitting in front of the computer pondering how to animate in Poser, and my visiting granddaughter was watching Pokeman on TV.  It prompted me to introduce that annoying Pikatyu to Godzilla.

Please feel free to email me and let me know what you think of it.  If you are interested in getting a copy on CD in higher definition format than this internet viewing allows, email me (tmitche2@ix.netcom.com) and we can discuss how to go about it.

Enjoy.

11/19/04: Finally, my apologies to modeler Ed Baumgarten (city skyscraper backgrounds) for mis-identifying him in the closing credits as "Ed Baumont", and for leaving out Andrew "Andi3D" Rolfe, whose excellent CityScape models were used extensively.  Please forgive my oversight, gentlemen, but I only discovered this embarrassing error after Richard had worked hard on posting the animation.  I'll correct it in any future releases.
